Clue Board Game Pieces

Clue is a game with a fairly high number of unique board game pieces, many of which are very memorable. Aside from the board itself there a number of other pieces. There are suspect cards, weapon cards, room cards, envelopes and dice. There are also detective’s notebook sheets for marking off suspects names off a checklist when they have been found to be innocent.

Each game player is also given a plastic game piece which represents their character. Mr. Green has a green piece, Professors Plum has a purple piece, Miss Scarlet has a red piece, Mrs. White has a White Piece, Colonel Mustard has a yellow piece and Mrs. Peacock has a blue piece. Players move their assigned piece from room to room as they gather clues about the identity of the murderer.

There are also pieces for each of the possible murder weapons including a rope, a candlestick, a revolver, a knife, a wrench, and a lead pipe. These come into play when a play makes a suggestion about who committed the murder and tool they used to do it.

The 2008 updated version has a changed arsenal of weapons. There is not a lead pipe and the revolver has been changed into a more modern pistol. There are also 3 new weapons in that version including a trophy, and ax, and a baseball bat. One of the designers of the new version talked about the weapon redesigns in an interview with NPR on August 8, 2008. He said it was very difficult to match the exact proportions of the original weapons and that the new weapons are not quite in scale with the original ones.
